"This day will I begin to put the
dread of thee and the fear of thee
upon the nations that are under
the whole heaven,
who shall hear report of thee,
and shall tremble,
and be in anguish because of thee."
- Deuteronomy 2:25 (KJV)
In the Bible stories of Joshua's army and their many battles, including the famous battle of Jericho, great victories are done by God for His people. God goes before them and puts the fear of His armies in the people they are to battle. He made their enemies so afraid or confused that they become their own worst enemies because they were too frightened o move against God's people or they ran off and tried to hide.
"And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt,
neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you:
for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above,
and in earth beneath." - Joshua 2:11 (KJV)
God still fights for His people today! Although it may appear people no longer fear God and that they mock His people and their belief. God is still the ruler of both heaven and earth. Battles occur in the spiritual realm and within the physical world. God can move people, things, and nations to His will. God still removes barriers and knocks down walls for His people. All that He requires is faith.
When you feel you are being defeated by things in this world or under attack by others, pray for strength to continue in the earthly battle as a protected member of the army of God. Acknowledge God's power to tear down the walls stopping you from getting through the situation and give Him praise for it. Recognize that you can receive victory through God's will in your life too.
