When Honestly Judging Others Is Required

One of the most overused and misused King James scripture is Matthew 7:1 "Judge not, that ye be not judged." It is often used by sinners to make Christians feel guilty for saying something about the wrongness of what they may be doing. (Even though those same sins are listed by God plainly in the Bible, it may be more prudent to pray for them, point them to salvation through Jesus, and to reading scripture rather than trying to change them with self-righteous, angry, or condescending words.) This is not what Jesus meant. He was saying we should not hold others to account for something we ourselves would not be willing to be accountable for. Another way to say it is to apply the golden rule towards everyone first before calling out any preconceptions about right verses wrong.

To reject the law is to praise the wicked; to obey the law is to fight them.

Evil people don’t understand justice, but those who follow the Lord

understand completely. - Proverbs 28:4-5 (NLT)

There are times when judgement must occur, especially if people have been elected to or appointed to be a judge of the law. Judges have a grave responsibility to the law and to the people who come before them, both the innocent and the guilty.

Here are some further sayings of the wise:

It is wrong to show favoritism when passing judgment.

A judge who says to the wicked, “You are innocent,”
will be cursed by many people and denounced by the nations.
But it will go well for those who convict the guilty;
rich blessings will be showered on them.- Proverbs 24:23-25 (NLT)

With that judgement responsibility comes accountability to "We the People," the nation's law, and to God. In this world, we will see wise judges and corrupted ones. Corrupt judges who lie, who take bribes, or provide false information to juries will eventually be punished by either the government whose laws they broke or by God when eternal judgement comes. There is no hiding their corruption. Alterternately, their excellence and commitment to the truth will also be seen, accepted, and rewarded.

To the Unwise and the Wicked, Learn!

With all the contempt and anger in the world, the inexerinced can easily be led astray. Many people (of faith and without it) wonder are these people really this stupid or is someone paying them to act this way? Evil is always willing to do what is necesseary to lead people away from God and goodness; even to the point of pretending to be better, feigning a new liberal awareness, and disguiding their true nature. The evil one(s) lies and will try to make things appear grey that are clearly black and white; evil paints wrong as right. Can these unwise people headed for their own destruction be re-taught? Can those willingly led astray by the wicked learn what is right? Will they set aside their scorn and sinfulness to seek the truth?

"How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity?

and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you,
I will make known my words unto you." - Proverbs 1:22-23 (KJV+ MORE)

Those who really want to know the truth, merely need to turn to God for forgiveness and direction. He will show them the wisdom of His ways through His word. He will lead them from wrong to learn the promises and truth that the evil one(s) have tried to keep hidden from them. If they only listen to God, they will trun from evil and win themselves a new life on this earth and a wonderful one in eternity. They will feel His love and understand what is good as well as how to do REAL good - not to fallow falshoods that lead to their pain and the pain of others. They can learn and feel freedom, if they choose to be saved. God is the greatest educator. God's people need to help provide that eduation through example, through open conversations, and in actions.

Yes Jesus Can!

Many are looking for independence and something more than what they have in this life. More help, more love, more understanding, more truth, more to live for, etc. People are suffering in pain and sorrow. They need a light to lead their path. Jesus is the answer to help and healing for eveyone.

"Jesus is the only One who can save people.

No one else in the world is able to save us.” - Acts 4:12 (NCV)

Many songs acknowledge that YES - Jesus can help - Jesus can heal. Not only can He, but He will!

Song for the Hurting to Find Joy in Christ - A New Christmas Song

Many Christians, and non-believers too, struggle to be happy over the holidays. They may feel unworthy to celebrate or even know Christ as their savior. With the physical loneliness, emotional strain, and spiritual separation that COVID shutdowns caused in fellowship and church attendance: many still find it hard to raise their voices in traditional joyous carols like "O Come Let Us Adore Him." Thus the story of a new song written in 2020 "O Come, All You Unfaithful" to bring comfort and spiritual healing to those in despair and experiencing feelings of hopelessness. The newer song emphasizes that Jesus was born for the salivation of all - He died on the cross for all sinners. Remember, that Christ still lives. loves, and forgives today!

And He <Jesus Christ> is the propitiation for our sins:

and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. - 1 John 2:2

You Are Special!

In a recent sermon, my pastor shared many Bible truths on how God loves us and that each one of us is special to Him. God created each of us uniquely for a special purpose and that we are perfect for that reason as He created us. God requires no physical or surgical changes to our body to love us. We only need a willing spirit to receive His love. Pastor shared a list of things that we should always remember about God and our relationship with him. Below is a version of that list.

"And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything.

Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.
From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth;
and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.
God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him,
though he is not far from any one of us." - Acts 17:25-27

You are God's unique and purposed creation
He ransomed you with a great price, his son Jesus Christ
God never gave up on you
He looks after you even though you did nothing to deserve it
God saw you long before you saw Him
You have been loved by Him since before there was time
God never asked anything from you to get His love
You are the apple of God's eye
God gave everything to you through the gift of His Son

Sins Are Forgiven and Forgotten by God

Last Sunday, my pastor's sermon was "The Power of Forgiveness." In it he reminded us that God is not consumed with the sins of our past, once we are forgiven of them. God takes our indiscretions/iniquities and throws our past deep into His sea of forgetfulness. It is the devil who keeps bringing up our past in order to make us feel guilty or inadequate. The devil wants us to believe we still are bad and not worthy of God's unconditional love. Summing up the message from church: condemnation is the devil pointing out our past, whereas God's conviction (followed by forgiveness if we ask for it) is so we can move toward a better future.

He will again have compassion upon us, he will tread our iniquities under foot.

Thou wilt cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. - Micah 7:19 (RSV)

Per the sermon message, there are three steps essential to forgiveness and Christian living. First, God forgives us! Second, we should forgive others. and third - we must forgive ourselves. In other words, do not go fishing the old sins back out! If the devil tries to fish them out to taunt us, we can remind him that we are forgiven and he must flee from us in Jesus name. If we want to live a Godly life, we must emulate Christ. When we are having difficulty deciding what to do, we should ask ourselves "What would Jesus do (WWJD) in this situation?"

Submit yourselves therefore to God.

Resist the devil and he will flee from you. - James 4:7 (RSV)

What We Need Is An Old-time Revival

It is time the church stood its ground in a world trying to take the Bible out of people's lives! We need to kneel and pray for our nations to return to God. This world needs restoration to God, revival in Christ, and reformation through the Holy Spirit. Listen to the words in the old-fashioned sounding song that has a great message for today's Christians before it is too late to bring salvation to others. Overcoming Negative Emotions

In the world today, there is so much focus on negative emotions we inflict upon ourselves or force onto others (sometime knowingly and often unknowingly). Modern marketing tells us we will be happy if we can just get a little more of something. We are bombarded with psychological and societal methods for improving the way we feel. If a method works, it is only for a short time. The emotions return and too often are more intense with time. There is no better emotion-shifter than having a relationship with God.

"But He gives more grace. Therefore it says,

'God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.'

Submit yourselves therefore to God.

Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.

Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts,

you double-minded."- James 4:6-8 (ESV)

This does not mean we will no longer experience negative feelings of anger, fear, loneliness, or sadness. Instead, we will have a power to call on our God to will help us overcome the negativity in our lives. He can replace: anger with composure, fear with determination, loneliness with His presence, and sadness with contentment. Deciding to accept a relationship with God (instead of continuing in wordly indecision) is no guarantee that life will always be tranquil. However, we will know and experience the true promise of God's love.

Too Many People Are Going to Hell

Too many people are going to hell of their own free will! So many people are experiencing hell on earth right now and too many of them are also headed towards eternal hell. Can anything be done about this?

Some people are involved in violence. A few want the violence for personal, profitable, or political reasons. Others are part of the violence for pay, to loot, enjoy villainy, or want unmerited fame; while others are just going along. Violence is usually the product of hate, crime, or emotionally-driven unrest. Who is leading the way for violence? It is a favorite tactic of the devil to destroy both those guilty of participating in violence and the innocent who fear the results of violence. Who can stop the violence?

"For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and

hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us"

- Ephesians 2:14 (KJV)

Some people are lonely or depressed. For some, depression can come from actual circumstances, things going on around them, words wrongfully spoken, or deceptive thoughts and personal perceptions. Why has depression increased? What can be done to help overcome the depression? Others have no one to talk with, while another may have people they can turn to but do not feel they can do so. Then loneliness creeps into their lives. often soon followed by depression. When will the lonesomeness end?

"Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,

that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost."

- Romans 15:13 (KJV)

As a Christian, what are you doing about the people you know are headed for hell? When you see wrong, are you retaliating and screaming back physically or are you fighting spiritually? Are you telling people about Jesus and leading them in the prayer of salvation. As a Church body, how is your group helping to: alleviate the pain of others, lead people to Christ, stop crime in your neighborhood, and fight falsehoods and the increasing evil in society? Is your church bringing in sinners in to be saved from hell? Or does it allow the sins to stay just to fill a seat or is it too quickly jumping on a social or worldly fads to mollify the ungodly? Pray through Christ for Godly direction to lead more away from hell and toward heaven.

How to Find Refreshing

Do you believe persecution of thoughts and distortions of laws are becoming a concern in this world? Are you feeling that the things are caving in on you? Does the world around you seem angry, upside-down, or encompassed in chaos? Are you in fear of what may happen to those you love? Do you feel like something is bound to break? Are you afraid that something will be you?

"Repent, then, and turn to God,

so that your sins may be wiped out,

that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,"

- Acts 3:19 (NIV)

Maybe it is time to turn from the world, repent of following the wrong things, and move more towards Christ. Knowing you are forgiven of your sins through God's grace and Jesus's sacrifice is very liberating. Following the teachings of Jesus Christ can also be liberating as it keeps you on the righteous and direct path rather than one that leads to personal destruction. You can enjoy your spiritual freedom as God gives you emotional comfort that also leads to future physical well-being.

God Has a Plan to Save You From the Evil Enemy

Are you afraid of what is going on in the world today? Do you tremble in fear thinking about what is bad now or may be worse in the future? Can you see the evil that is all around? D0 you wonder if God will ever intervene? God assures the believer that you can be strong and face your fears because He is there for you. If you have faith, you need not be afraid because He promises that He is your deliverer.

"Say to them that are of a fearful heart,

Be strong, fear not:

behold, your God will come with vengeance,
even God with a recompense;
he will come and save you." - Isaiah 35:4 (KJV)

God will fight for and provide retribution on the enemies of His chosen people and His good works. God always delivers on His promises. He is your salvation, your strength, and your only hope. Pray for your needs, pray for His help, pray for increased faith, and rely on God to provide the way. He will bring about your deliverance from the evil enemies of good in His time and in His way. God knows what is best and He will lead you in the best plan to respond or guide you to wait for Him to do His plan.

Evangelizing with Gospel Tracts

Previously, an idea of Ministering and Witnessing via Bookmarks was shared on this blog as a technique to spread the message of Christ to others. Now, with the growing need for more people to know about God, as well as both freedom of speech and religion being suppressed on the internet, it is time to reconsider the use of paper-based gospel tracts. Tracts may contain short stories, faith Bible verses, illustrations, or poetry.

"And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written,

How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace,

and bring glad tidings of good things!" - Romans 10:15 (KJV)

It may seem like an old-fashioned idea, using printed tracts to spread the gospel and witness to people. However, it is an easy and inexpensive method for those less confident about talking to others. Tracts provide something real for the person receiving it to hold onto and review multiple times at their convenience. It is still a relevant evangelistic tool for churches and individuals to spread the gospel of Christ. Let us bring back the Gospel tracts!

God So Loved... John 3:16 Proves It

The Bible tells us that "God is love." But does that really mean God loves us? How can He love people who do not always do the right thing or openly commit sin? How can God love people who do not know Him or those who appear to turn their back on Him? Sin separates mankind from God. That separation meant we all were destined for eternity in hell instead of in heaven. However God so muchly loved the men and women He created that He planned a way for them to change their destiny and be saved. That salvation plan was/IS through Jesus Christ.

"For God so loved the world,

that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,

but have everlasting life." - John 3:16 (KJV)

God proved His love for mankind by Jesus Christ dying for our sins on the cross. Jesus, the son of God, proved His love for us by willingly going to the cross for the freedom of our souls. The death for mankind's sin on the cross was the ultimate signal of love everlasting. Once you believe in Christ, accept His love, and pray for salvation - you are forgiven, no longer a lost child, and reunited with God. Your personal sins are forgiven and eternal life in heaven for you has been promised. As Christ was resurrected and returned to heaven, so will you be with God the Father too.

Simple Salvation Prayer

There is nothing you are required to do before you can receive salvation other than recognize who is your true salvation is. Salvation is a gift of God's grace to you given through the sacrifice of His son Jesus Christ. All you need to do to start following Jesus and living a Christian life is to pray a simple prayer for your own salvation. This salvation prayer is often referred to as the Sinner's Prayer, since you have to admit you have not always done right in the sight of God. You can say a personal prayer in your own words using the A-B-C 's of Salvation model or you may use the example below as your beginner's guide.

A-B-C's of Salvation Model

Admit (confess) that you are a sinner and (repent) you have made mistakes.
Believe that Jesus is God's son and He died on the cross for you.
Commit your life to following Jesus and serving others.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe

in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth

confession is made unto salvation." - Romans 10:9-10

Prayer of Salvation Example

"Jesus Christ, Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I repent of my sins. Please forgive me. Come into my life. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Help me to live for you the rest of my life. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen."

What should you do next to continue your life as a Christian? There are a few things you can do to grow in your new relationship with God.

You should talk/pray to God everyday with the expectation that He hears you and will give you direction when necessary.
Buy a Holy Bible or download a Bible App so you can educate yourself in God's Holy Word with daily reading. You may want to start with a few verses each day and build up to reading full chapters.
Listen to Christian gospel or worship music on radio, TV, or download some.
Quickly find a Christian church to attend so that you can learn about God and fellowship with people who are Christian examples (denomination comparison). Being a part of a church not only offers you options for personal Christian growth, many churches will have options where you can serve Jesus and help others too.
You will also want to tell others that you are now a Christian. This way others will understand that you are now a different person on the inside, even though you may look the same on the outside.

Knowing the Good Shepherd Above the Thief

The Bible refers to Jesus as the Good Shepherd who knows his sheep. Who besides Jesus is interested in His sheep? There are both human and animal thieves who want to catch and destroy sheep in the Bible. Having a problem with understanding the sheep analogy?

In the old west, the analogy might be cattle rustlers because they want to take the cows to increase their own herd. Or it could be a lion or wolf coming in the night to capture the young and weak calf. On the farm, the analogy could be the fox in the hen house waiting to devour the innocent chickens. However you tell it, there is someone or something that does not have a legitimate claim to the flock or herd waiting to take what is not theirs. In the spiritual realm, this thief is the devil (aka satan, lucifer). This devil is an evil spiritual criminal who steals through lying, cheating, bargaining, and attempting to lure the sheep astray from the Shepherd. This evil has no legitimate claim to the sheep! The devil may make promises of power, money, or popularity to get the sheep to leave the Shepherd and abandon the righteous path. This deceiving thief may temporarily keep an occasional promise, but it will be fleeting and quickly followed by the torture evil enjoys inflicting on others. The devil only cares for destroying lives and increasing the number of people taken into hell.

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:

I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep."

- John 10:10-11 (KJV)

However, the faithful sheep only follow the Good Shepherd and they only listen to His voice. They do not follow the evil deceiver and they do not seek after his false treats. Instead they keep their eyes on Jesus and listen intently for His voice. Christians are the sheep who follow Jesus. The mature Christian recognizes the voice of Jesus and closes his ears to evil. The new Christian needs to study and learn so that they too know which voice to listen to. Christians know Jesus Christ died for their salvation. These sheep know their Shepherd and they know only He really cares for them and gives to them the best blessings. Are you listening to the Good Shepherd? Do you thank Him daily for His sacrifice, your salvation, and your eternal heavenly home? Listen well for the the true voice of your Good Shepherd.

All Things Are Possible with God

With all that is happening on the earth, you may be asking "Who can save us?" You see people who are afraid, some are concerned, and others who are haughty over a particular situation. Jesus Christ assures His followers, when things seem impossible for man to change - God is still in control! God is on your side, if you are a Christian living a righteous life.

"For humans this is impossible, but for God all things are possible." - Matthew 19:26 (ISV)

As you wonder, given the circumstances, can people still be saved? You must remember that Jesus can save anyone, although they must want His salvation for Him to act. Prayer and repentance has to proceed salvation. Pray for His guidance and direction in your life. Stand strong in your faith.

So the correct question should be: do you/they want to be saved? Are you/they willing to give-up the life you/they now have to follow Jesus? Are you/they willing to abandon selfish desires for whatever is God's will? If the answers are YES, then God can do anything and will control events for His faithful followers.

"There are some things that people cannot do, but God can do anything." - Mark 10:27 (CEV)

When things seem impossible turn to God for empowerment and miracles. He can turn your: fear into strength, pain into health, defeat into triumph, poverty into blessings, sorrow into joy. God is the real source of everything relevant to this life and eternity that you could ever need. Live for Jesus, love others like Jesus, and He will love you for it. His love saves you, His love saves others too.

"What is humanly impossible is possible for God." - Luke 18:27 (GNT)

When God provides His protection and comes through for you, be sure to give Him the glory. For it is with God and through Him that all are saved. The power to accomplish the perceived impossibility can only a come from God. So give Him all the praise. Do not risk your salvation by being prideful and claiming victory through yourself or another human.

Bottom line, be humble, submit to God's will, and trust that He will provide the best way for you.

Fasting: A Good Practice for This Day and Time

The Church is calling for prayer, repentance, and REVIVAL. Citizens are screaming for patriotism and protection. Politics are poisoning the world and pulling everyone in different directions. As a Christina, you are praying, what else can you do? Have you considered fasting as a form of worship or petition? Fasting may be for multiple days as in many Bible instances, or it can just be one day to draw closer to God or make a special supplication. Fasting is a way for you to demonstrate to God your desire to draw closer to Him, as it is a righteous symbol of your longing to be with God. Fasting, along with prayer, can help you to recognize His path for you or give you calm in a stressful situation. Your faithful dedication to spiritual things can help bring salvation, comfort, and fellowship to a world badly in need of it.

"But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,

that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret.
And your Father who sees in secret will reward you." - Matthew 6:17-18 (ESV)

Consider fasting as a spiritual symbol, you are replacing physical food (or some other enjoyable thing you are giving up for a limited time) for time with God, which fills you up with spiritual food. If you are fasting for a specific event or situation, you are covering it with a spiritual blanket of protection. Jesus the Entertainer?

What did he crowds of people want when they followed Jesus? Did they want to see His miracles or wished to see a magic show? Did they want to hear His excellent sermons and parables, or were they just expecting a great motivational speaker and orator of the times? Did they want to be fed spiritual food for their souls or to satisfy physical hunger? Jesus the Entertainer, NOT! Instead they found teacher, healer, savior - the Son of God.

"And the people saw them departing,
and many knew him,

and ran afoot thither out of all cities,
and outwent them, and came together unto him.

And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people,
and was moved with compassion toward them,
because they were as sheep not having a shepherd:
and he began to teach them many things." - Mark 6:33-34

Are preachers taking the pulpit for Biblical ad spiritual learning to meet entertainment standards. Are worship leaders getting everyone to grow closer to God and learn scripture by singing along, or are they just giving a concert? Are church congregations becoming audience members rather than active followers of Jesus and anointed by the Holy Spirit to do God's work?

"And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes,

he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves,

and gave them to his disciples to set before them;
and the two fishes divided he among them all.
And they did all eat, and were filled." - Mark 6:41-42

Remember the acronym WWJD: What would Jesus do? If you study the Bible, you know what Jesus did ad you learn what he expects you to do too. It is time to go back to the purpose of the church and the mission of discipleship. Time to feed the hungry - body and soul. Focus on John 3:16 and tell everyone about Jesus and what God did for them through Jesus Christ. It is time for real REVIVAL!
