God wants to be reconciled with mankind. He loved His creation and was friends with man – until man sinned. Sin is abhorrent to God! He cannot have a relationship with someone who continues to sin. However, He allows forgiveness and atonement of sins through His son, Jesus Christ. This is mankind’s salvation! After salvation comes reconciliation. What is reconciliation? It is the restoration of our relationship with God. It makes us compatible with His plan and allows us to someday coexist with Him and His son in Heaven.
We get a brief explanation of how this plan of reconciliation works in II Corinthians 5:14-21. Christ was sent on a mission of reconciliation. He did this by exchanging His earthly life for ALL our human sins. This is our salvation; acceptance of this is where we begin to transform into what God intends us to be. As His reconciled, we are supposed to continue Christ’s mission. We must always remember we are representing Jesus everywhere we go and in everything that we do.
In summary, the reconciliation plan will change people, satisfy God, come via Christ, and is available to everyone.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you.” - Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
