Reason for the Season Challenge: Story of Jesus in Twenty-four Days with Luke

the story of christ
Have you heard Jesus is the reason for the season?  Have you worried that you or those you love might be leaving Christ out of Christmas?  Want a way to keep Jesus Christ in your seasonal traditions and share his story with others?  Consider going to the Bible (any version as your choice) for your inspiration.

Did you know that the book of Luke is only 24 chapters long.  This book of the Bible concentrates on the entire life of Jesus.  As a keep Christ in Christmas Challenge, you along with your family, friends, or Bible study group, should read through the book of Luke a little bit each day.  If you start on the first of December with chapter one and read a chapter each day, you will have read the entire book of Luke together before Christmas!

Will you take the Christmas Challenge this holiday season? Will you take the challenge for yourself personally, in a group, or with your immediate family?  You may make it a family devotional by reading each chapter aloud in the evening together or you can make it another part of your Christmas Advent process.

"And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes,
lying in a manger.  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host
praising God, and saying,  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace,
good will toward men." - Luke 2:12-14 (KJV)

NOTE: If you do not read this blog post until after the 10th of December, you can still take the challenge!  Instead of reading a chapter a day, read two a day starting on the 12th and you will still read the entire book of Luke by Christmas!  No excuses, just plan on getting to know your Bible and recognize the true "Reason for the Season" of Christmas.

If you want to start early, you can prepare for the challenge, by reading a synopsis of Luke,  use it an on-line way to read the chapters, or review it as a summary after you finish the reading plan.   If on-line study appeals to you and you prefer to listen rather than read, try the "Luke Explained" 2-part series on You Version. If you accept this challenge, please let us know your thoughts and results in the comments on this blog post. Thanks!
