Righteous Expectation of Intercessory Prayer

All Christians are called to pray in Jesus' name.  Prayer is should be more than thanking God for His blessings or asking for additional blessings.  Your prayer life needs to also be seeking God's will in the world in which we live.  This is done with intercessory prayer, which Jesus expects Christians to do through the power of the Holy Spirit.  It is a necessary type of prayer for our time and for all people.  

When you pray an intercessory prayer, you will be praying according to God's will and asking Him to release the power necessary.  Your prayers will be effective and you can expect an answer if you follow His plan.  Below are some examples of things you may be called to intercede for:

• Pray sincerely and regularly for others, be specific about what they need
• Pray fervently and enthusiastically with faith and love for others
• Pray intensely for your nation, elections, and government leaders
• Pray expectantly for the sick, and those affected by disasters
• Pray unceasing for ministers, evangelists, righteousness, and the Church 
• Pray for success in upcoming events and revivals
• Pray lovingly and with a desire to help and be an encouragement where you can

Always be praying for God's will in Jesus' name, whether or not the outcome is what you personally want or what benefits the group you are praying for.   True intercessory prayer will always seek God's glory and purpose, not your own.  You do not know God's plan, you can be comforted in knowing He has one.

To help guide your prayers, you may want to look for scriptures that relate to the issue you will be praying about.  Select a scriptural promise and read it before or during your prayers.  This will help you use God/s word to change what you are praying for and help you to grow in your Christian faith as well.  Prayer and reading scripture renews your hope, humbles you, and increasing your understanding.  Not only does it bless  your Christian walk, these prayers will impact the lives of others.
