The past year has been hard for so many people. There has been disease, hunger, and poverty mostly caused from lack of work due to the pandemic. Many feel epidemics are judgements fro God for wrong doing. There is much evidence of evil and a turning away from God's love. The Bible does show God allows plagues but it also emphasizes Jesus as the healer and savior.
In the world today, there is a sense of hopelessness that government promises and medical aid can not overcome. The worlds economy has suffered and people are getting desperate. Violence and crime has increased. When and from where can relief finally come? What hope do we have now?
"Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God:
for he hath given you the former rain moderately,
and he will cause to come down for you the rain,
the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
And the floors shall be full of wheat,
and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten,
the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm,
my great army which I sent among you.
And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied,
and praise the name of the Lord your God,
that hath dealt wondrously with you:
and my people shall never be ashamed." - Joel 2:23-26 (KJV)
The righteous stand strong in knowing God would provide both spiritually and physically. The worms of disease and locusts of poverty have no home in Christian lives where God provides. Whether closed or open, the Church has provided for the spiritual needs of Christ's people during the hard times, Opened or closed, the Church also provided for the physical needs of any people in need as directed by Jesus.
Now it is time to recognize that God has promised a bright future for His people. If we return to God and strive for His righteousness, He will fulfill His promises to not only bless us as He has in the past and restore us in the current year where we lost so much, but to make future years even better! With Christ in our lives, we can prosper spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
